COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Diagnostic, Clinical & Therapeutic Education Programme (DCTEP) is an online course made by MetabERN members in collaboration with the Coordination Office. The programme is addressed to medical residents and graduate students.
The overall objective of the programme is to create and train a new class of professionals with a scientific background and interest in Inherited Metabolic Diseases to provide them with expert knowledge and practical experience in the phenotypic spectrum, diagnostic and clinic work-up, treatment and long-term management of these diseases.
LEARNING OUTCOMES AND KNOWLEDGE DOMAINS
The participants will gain skills in discussion, management and treatment of patients with these complex diseases in a multidisciplinary manner assuring an adequate follow-up of patients by evaluating the status of the disease. The first part of the programme will focus on pathophysiology and biochemistry as well as nutrition and other therapies. The programme will be completed by sessions of clinical simulations on emergency protocols and therapy adverse events.
